and then the pads went floating by…..
All we could do was laugh, no one else was going to clean up the mess – Elliot was only five days old, Steven was at school and the toilet was running over. The book “Twilight” had been left on the ground and was completely underwater. Waves were breaking over the hall carpet and starting to lap into the bedrooms. What were a couple of tired women to do? A hanger under that rubber bulb on a pole thing in the tank stopped new water from joining us; towels in the bedroom doorways helped turn the tide. I started scooping water into the tub with a cup while Natasha called the maintenance emergency number. We scooped and wrung and mopped and laughed until we were drenched and still there was water – water EVERY WHERE !!! Maintenance brought us a shopvac, there weren’t any attachments – just the hose, so Natasha stepped, water gushed around her shoe and I vacuumed around it… step vac – step vac – step vac – laugh, laugh, laugh, step vac – step vac – step vac – laugh, laugh, laugh… We pulled the fans from storage and set them up to blow in the hall, luckily Elliot decided to sleep through it all. By the time Steven got home we had changed into something clean, hung dry towels in the bathroom and eaten a snack. It was harder work than I had done in a very long time but we did our best, and hopefully that was enough…

Oh MY!! Sounds like not the thing you want to be doing after just having a baby. At least you took the high road and laughed (it must not have been dirty water) :)
How funny! I'm glad Elliot slept through the whole thing :)
We miss you!
How could you be so light with a tragedy like the toilet-water desecration of a copy of Twilight??
The Horror!
